grain elevator

Posted in jewelry on February 9, 2010 by jrodart

We just took a trip across Montana, found a great deal on a used topper for our truck. Gotta reuse right? It was neat to see some land we’ve never seen before, this state is so big! I brought the camera along to catch some road side attractions. This old grain elevator was out in the middle of no where. I loved the weathered, painted sign. And I thought the colors were so beautiful among the drab winter land scape.

I thought this piece of metal was so beautiful after I cleaned it up.  I just has to take a picture of it.  Can’t wait to see what becomes of it…

So, my in laws just gave this to me. They said it’d been sitting in the garage and wondered if I could use it. Why Yes!! I not only love tools but I also love old items, well used with their own stories to tell, a love for things you don’t see much of anymore. I’m guessing this beauty is from the 50’s or 60’s. I thought it was so cool, I just had to take a picture of it. Soon it will hear my stories. I’ve been in the studio for the last few days working on some new pieces. Hope to get the store up soon!

2010! I’m excited to see where this year takes us. I’m looking forward to growing my business and sharing it with others. I’d like to say thanks to all those that have supported me in my creative endeavor and continue to be a part of my dream. I couldn’t do this with out you!
I’m happy to be back in the studio designing after being on the road doing shows. I’m working on getting a You Got Mojo store up and running, hopefully out soon!! I’ll keep you posted.

In the mean time…..Recycle, Reinvent, Reimagine.

Living an inspired life isn’t always easy, making a living off inspiration can be even harder. So, is the creative life worth it? Jarrod Eastman (aka jROD) and Pyper Hugos think so. They are the creative husband and wife behind jRODaRT and You Got Mojo. They met 11 years ago in Granada, Spain. Magnetized by their mutual love of life and creativity, they have been pursuing careers in the arts ever since they met. Jarrod has always been drawn to painting while Pyper’s love for anything old and rusty, especially metal, has led her to jewelry. jROD’s work leans towards an urban aesthetic while holding true to a painterly style. His paintings appear kinetic and surreal with the essence of a story just beginning or of one in progress. Pyper’s jewelry is beautiful in its simplicity of design and color. Using reclaimed automotive steel, found objects, and sterling silver, she reinvents pieces that transcend time and genres, creating art that is at once retro yet modern.
.
These two artists have teamed up with Amy Kirkland of Altitude Gallery to bring you a one night art extravaganza…”The Creative Life”. They will be showing new artwork from the last few months in the studio. jROD will also be releasing a new 16 x 20 limited edition print series, and Pyper will be unveiling new bracelets and rings in her line of jewelry. “Showcasing Jarrod and Pyper’s innovative styles in such an architecturally unique gallery space will be nothing short of inspirational. It is a collaboration that has been a long time in the making.” says Kirkland. “It’s a great time to support a local gallery and local artists and pick up a special gift for the holidays or for yourself.”

This event is sponsored by Altitude Gallery and Montana Ale Works and will take place at the gallery located at 134 E. Main St. from 5 to 9pm on November 6th, 2009. Stop by for some great art and libations. Pyper and jROD would like to thank Bozeman for the many years of support. “It’s a community like Bozeman that lets us thrive in our imaginations and we are honored to continue sharing the results” said jROD.

These earrings are made from black and silver reclaimed automotive steel and sterling silver.  I’m thinking they would be fun in a myriad of colors!

This piece is made from a salvaged steel sign that I have laying around, the washers were found while on a trip in Utah and the rest is sterling silver. This one is actually reversible, you can flip the washers over to a beautiful rusty patina on the other side so you can wear it either way. I’m working on making more pieces reversible, a lot of the salvaged automotive steel I use is colored on 2 sides as well. It’s good to have options!

I’ve been trying to come up with a bracelet design for awhile now, think I might have hit on one!

So here is an address sign I just finished up for some folks in town made of salvaged metal. This is more the type of work I was doing a few years back with reclaimed materials. It all started here with functional and nonfunctional wall hangings and lots of good old rusty metal.
